Organisers of the MTV Video Music Awards, VMAs have released the list of nominees for 2023 and some Nigerian artistes were named.

Taylor Swift and SZA are leading the nominations with eight and six nominations respectively. There are 35 artistes who are first-time nominees this year, including GloRilla, Ice Spice, Flo Milli, among others.

It was observed that an Afrobeats category had been added to the nominations for the first time in the award’s history. The new afro-centric category was dominated by Nigerian artistes. Cameroonian-American singer, Libianca was the only none Nigerian nominee.

Meanwhile, Rema also bagged two other nominations with ‘Calm Down’ featuring Selena Gomez.

The 2023 VMAs are scheduled to take place on September 12, 2023, and it will air live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.s.

In other news, Princess Onyejekwe who happens to be evicted BBNaija ‘All Stars’ housemate, has revealed why she was exceptionally quiet and calm during her stay in the Big Brother house.

Princess, who is the first housemate to be evicted from the reality show, left the house on Sunday, August 6, after the jury unanimously voted for her to leave the house.

She reacted to rumors that she was evicted from the show for being too “quiet” and failing to provide viewers with the necessary “action” that is making other housemates trend on social media.

She made it known that she was keeping quiet and tranquil in the house, because she was no longer a young woman, she couldn’t participate in a live TV conflict for food and men.

In a live session following her eviction on Sunday, she said that she wouldn’t apologize to anyone for her reserved demeanor which made her unappealing to enthusiastic viewers.

She in a recent development, disclosed that she is currently dating a billionaire, which is why she couldn’t be seen fighting for a man on television.

She said;

“I don’t know how I would come to TV and start fighting over what? over food or over man? Like, I am freaking dating a billionaire. I can’t do that. I am sorry.” 

However, Princess made no mention as to the identity of the billionaire she’s currently seeing.
