Famous Nigerian singer, Davido has started receiving encomium from social media users following the way he describes the music genre – Afrobeats.

Made in Lagos superstar, Wizkid becomes one of the trending conversations online as he asserts that he is not an Afrobeats artiste.

“Davido painted a bad impression of Shank to Kai Cenat” – Nigerian lady

The “Essence” crooner added that no one should ever call him an afrobeats artiste again and any one who does that is a b!tch or hoe.

Speaking further, Wizkid drags Afrobeats fans to filth as he stressed that those who likes his Afrobeats songs such as “Pakurumo” should not attempt to download his forthcoming album.

In his words; “Album done, see you soon bitches. Zion richer than you niggas lol!. And pls Abeg if you like Pakurumo Wizkid don’t download this new album..in fact delete me from ur playlist and your life.”

Speaking based on his own opinion, Burna Boy made it known to all and sundry that he is not an Afrobeats artiste rather he has created his own music genre tagged Afro fusion.

According to Burna Boy, being from Africa doesn’t mean that your music must be Afrobeats, clarifying further that there are a lot of music genres in Africa.

In another interview Burna Boy said that the only person that did Afrobeat is legendary icon, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

He added that UK has no input in Afrobeats they only accept the music genre.

“Afrobeat is one person only and that’s Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. The UK has no input in the naming of Afrobeats”

Unlike Wizkid and Burna Boy saying that they are not Afrobeats artistes, Davido didn’t said so, he explained Afrobeats without insulting anybody.

According to Davido, the general belief is that any African artiste singing belongs to the music genre Afrobeats.

He further speaks on versatility as he averred that there are some African artistes that make purely RnB, hip-hop among others.

The singer concluded that even though these artistes have different sounds and style they are still called Afrobeats singers because they are from Africa.

Singer Davido definition of the music genre – Afrobeats was accepted by many describing what Babcock Uni graduate said as being educative compare to that of Wizkid and Burna Boy.
